Homoeopathy is a dynamic therapy which is based on natural laws of healing: - THE LAW OF SIMILARS (similia similibus curentur), or "like cures like". The name Homoeopathy comes from the Greek words 'homois'
(similar) and 'pathos' (suffering). In 1790 Samuel
Hahnemann, a German physician, chemist and scholar, discovered that a
substance (medicine) that could cause symptoms in a healthy person
could cure the same symptoms in a sick person. This natural phenomena has been observed since ancient
times. The earliest written references that we know of come from
Hippocrates the 'Father of Western medicine'. Others have mentioned
their observations of the same phenomena but until Dr. Samuel
Hahnemann, no one had systematically and scientifically experimented
with it. Dr. Hahnemann spent 53 years of his life establishing and
refining homoeopathic medicine. Mainstream medicine works in an 'allopathic' way, treating
with opposites, e.g, diarrhoea is treated with a medicine that would
cause constipation in a healthy person. This sounds logical but the
world of energy medicine is based on different phenomena. The
difficulty in our time and with our modern education is that many
people have trouble understanding anything which is not presented to
their perception in a way that is basically materialistic. - THE USE OF THE SINGLE REMEDY. It takes great skill and training for the classical
homoeopath to prescribe the remedy required in a person's case. The
use of one remedy at a time that has been selected according to the law
of similars is what is known as classical
homoeopathy. There are people
who call themselves homoeopaths who give many different remedies
together, and include other therapies
at the same time. These people do not understand what the law of
similars means. Using one remedy at a time does not mean only one
remedy ever is used in the patient's case. Time is allowed for the
person's life force to change from
sickness
to greater health before repeating the remedy or choosing another
remedy as necessary. In an acute illness the remedy may be changed more
frequently than in chronic illness. A trained classical homoeopath will
know when to repeat the dose and when to change the remedy. Other
therapies
like
acupuncture,
osteopathy,
chiropractic,
reflexology
and
so
on,
work
by manipulating
life energy to enable greater well-being. Homeopathy is the only
therapy
that deliberately works with the law of similars. - THE MINIMUM DOSE. Homoeopathy uses very small doses of the indicated remedy.
It is very gentle, non-toxic, without side effects and works by
stimulating the body's own healing forces. It is suitable for all
ages. There is no suppression of symptoms, only safe, natural healing. Homoeopathy deliberately manipulates Life Energy by use of
dynamic remedies for the purpose of stimulating the
sluggish, unhealthy, disturbed life force of an individual human or
animal to flow and circulate through their systems with greater ease
and vigour. Our health comes from this free circulation of life force
and the beginnings of sickness arise from the blockage or loss of
vitality on this
very fundamental level of Life. It took many years of experimentation
and clinical experience for Dr. Hahnemann to
understand that therapy was a matter of energy manipulation and good
health meant good life force flow. He began to see that the life force
of a medicine/ remedy, when applied according to
the law of similars, cured his patients of serious acute epidemic
sicknesses and even reversed some chronic illnesses. Dr. Hahnemann
experimented with subtle, immaterial medicines until the end of his
life. see article link ' a so-called "non-scientific" way of perceiving the question of health and sickness. - PROVINGS ON THE HEALTHY. Homoeopathic medicines have not been tested on animals but
rather on healthy human volunteers. By doing so it is possible to
ascertain detailed symptoms on all levels of human
experience which the substance being tested is capable of causing. This
is more logical than
testing medicines on animals. When one thinks that each species differs
from another physiologically, how can the gross physical results of
drug tests on rats, guinea pigs, cats, dogs, monkeys etc. reliably
apply to human physiology? Human testers are able to give detailed
responses on every level of experience; changes in emotions, mental
ability, exact location and type of physical sensations like pain,
tinglings, sounds, temperature etc. By using human data we know what
symptoms a given drug is capable of causing and by way of the law of
similars what it is capable of curing. see article Side effects of prescription and recreational drugs - HERING'S LAW OF CURE One of Dr. Hahnemann's contemporaries was Dr. Constantine
Hering. An experienced physician, he observed what is known to
homoeopaths as the Law of the direction of
Cure, or Hering's law. This is a yardstick by which any therapy can be
measured and is invaluable to the understanding of the true
status of a person's health. To understand this therapeutic principle one must know that
a person is first
and foremost sick in his or her life force. Even before the offending
microorganism has appeared, the susceptibility to illness
was there. By the end of his life Louis Pasteur (Father of
bacteriology) acknowledged that
the micro-organism was not the primary cause of illness. Rather it
affected certain individuals who were unwell on subtle levels to begin
with. From the homoeopathic point of view, the individuals were
weak/disturbed in their life force which made the physical cell matter
less capable of resisting the microbe. When a therapy is successful, real cure always begins from
the centre outwards. The renewal of Life force or Energy flow is the
beginning of cure. The individual feels better in his or her very
core; spiritually, mentally, emotionally, even before the physical
symptoms are cured. The rise in energy is a sign that the remedy is
working. The patient says he feels "better in myself." Physically the
cure begins with the most important vital
organs affected first and progresses to less important peripheral
organs, e.g. from brain, heart etc being cured first to muscle and skin
being cured last . This is not to say that an organ like the skin is
not
important. A disturbance in the innermost person may be expressed by
the development of an eruption on the surface of the skin. Life force
will always try to express it's disturbance at the most peripheral
level. Observation of Hering's law in action shows the central nervous
system, circulatory system, endocrine system
etc,
will benefit first and only later will one see results on the skin.
Symptoms are also cured from the most recent to affect the patient
first to
the most remote time
wise which may reappear later as cure progresses. It's like unwrapping
an onion, one layer at a time. Removal of symptoms without due regard for the law of cure
is a foolish and frequently a dangerous practice. It results in
suppression of symptoms without curing the underlying illness in the
life force. The life force will keep trying to express its illness at
the most peripheral area where it is least dangerous to life but
eventually with continued suppressive therapy it will be forced to give
up its efforts and the illness settles on a deeper area either
in the body or in the mind. So with suppressive therapy an individual
becomes sicker on more
serious levels. Unfortunately is is
all
too common in mainstream medicine. Removal of symptoms with due regard
for the Law of Similars results in a curative process that can be
monitored reliably following Hering's law. |
